(originally the star Kabire within the Sirius sector).
“Only the Eastern tribe is recorded as having ‘migrated,’”
said Novel Mirai, pointing to a passage in the research database.
“The West does not use the same expression. This appears to be an intentional discrepancy.”
“Indeed, you are correct, Novel.”
Q. Ensnovi, a quantum robot newly constructed from extreme radiation bodies and the memory systems of the Sympathetic Surveyor, responded:
“It is also recorded in the archives of the ancient Dr. John Nack.
Before Earth’s destruction, the largest settlement was a city called ‘Yamabuki.’
It is said to be the very origin of our own lineage.”
“Perhaps it was the first—and the last—paradise,”
Novel murmured softly.
On the holographic projection system in the laboratory,
an ancient Japanese poem appeared, along with the scene of a warrior and a girl named Benizara.
> “Though the yamabuki flowers bloom in countless layers,
not a single seed (mino) is to be found—how sorrowful it is.”

Q. Ritchie explained:
“According to legend, this poem symbolizes a certain general’s failure.
On a rainy night, the general knocked on a door seeking a raincoat (mino).
A young girl offered him only yamabuki flowers.
In her silent refusal, he realized his own ignorance and felt deep shame.
It is said that he later devoted himself to the construction of the great city ‘Yamabuki.’”
“In other words… a self-purifying function…”
Novel’s eyes sharpened.
“That is the essence of civilization.
What guides human evolution is this capacity for resonance.
The girl’s silence prompted the warrior’s introspection.”
Silence filled the room.
Novel envisioned the figure of the girl called Benizara—
the power held by the innocent,
an appeal beyond words.
A fundamental tone of civilization, resonating across time and space.
“The final mystery has been solved.”
Novel stood up and declared quietly:
“Ritchie. I am assigning you a new mission.”
“W-what?!”
“Head to the Ensnovi stellar domain.
Reconstruct the Yamabuki lineage across time and space.
In other words, terraform a planet of resonance.”
“What we have discovered here—this aesthetic called wabi-sabi—
lies dormant within a fallen civilization.
We will awaken it once more.
Rebuild that spirit within that domain.”

もし文明が「沈黙」によって救われるとしたら―あなたは信じるだろうか？
あなたは、文明を進化させるのは「知性」だと思いますか？
それとも「感応（共鳴する力）」でしょうか？
やっと辿り着いた。
銀河標準暦10067年、天の川銀河の恒星ミライ星域(本来はシリウス星域内の恒星カビレ)内の惑星アタカナ軌道上のシンパシック・サーヴェイ号内。
「東の一族だけ、『移り住んだ』と記録されているのです」
ノヴェル・ミライは、研究データベースの一節を指差して言った。「西には、同じ表現は使われていない。これは意図的な差異だと思われます」
「ごもっともです、ノヴェル」
Q・エンスノヴィ、極素輻射体とシンパシック・サーヴェイ号の記憶装置によって製造されたばかりのクォンタムロボットが答えた。「古代のジョン・ナック博士の記録にもありました地球破滅の前、最大の定住地は〈ヤマブキ〉と呼ばれる都市であり、それは同時に、我々の起源たる地でもあると」
「最初で、最後の楽園だったのかもしれないな」
ノヴェルは低くつぶやいた。
研究室のホログラム投影装置に、古代日本語の詩とその武士と少女紅皿の情景が浮かび上がる。
「七重八重花は咲けども山吹の 実（蓑）の一つだになきぞ悲しき」

Q・リッチーが解説する。「伝承によれば、この詩はある将軍の失敗を象徴しています。雨の夜、蓑を求めて戸を叩いた将軍に、少女が差し出したのは山吹の花だけだった。その無言の拒絶に、彼は自らの無知を恥じ、後に巨大都市〈ヤマブキ〉の建設に尽力するのです」
「つまり、自浄作用 . . . 」
ノヴェルの目が鋭く光った。「それこそが文明の本質だ。人間の進化を導くもの、それが感応力だな。少女の沈黙が、武士の内省を促した」
沈黙が流れる。ノヴェルは、紅皿と呼ばれたその少女の幻影を思い描いた。無垢なる者が持つ力、言葉を超えた訴え。時空を超えて響く、文明の根音。
「最後の謎が解けた」
ノヴェルは立ち上がり、静かに宣言した。「リッチー。君に新しい任務を与える」
「えっ？!」
「恒星エンスノヴィ宙域へ向かえ。山吹の種族を時空を越えて再構築するのだ。つまりその感応の惑星をプラネットフォーミングするのだ。
我々がここで見いだした〈わび・さび〉と呼ぶ美意識、それは滅びた文明の中に眠る。それをもう一度呼び起こす。その心をその宙域に再構築する」
